Foreword by the Company Commander

General information on the Prince of Wales's Division Training Company at the Infantry Training Centre Catterick. This is where all recruits for the Prince of Wales's Division learn to master the skills of becoming an infantryman.
The Prince of Wales's Division has for centuries drawn on the heartland of England and the hills and valleys of Wales for its recruiting. Men who now have an enviable reputation not only within the British Army, but also amongst other Coalition armies and proudly fly the British flag whilst on operations around the world.
The Prince of Wales's Division values its recruits and therefore only sends its best soldiers and officers to Catterick to train them. The instructors are experts in their particular fields and fully understand the challenges faced by any man embarking on a career in the Army. All of them, at some stage, have gone through exactly the same training and are best placed to advise, mentor and encourage.
The training occurs over the twenty-six week Combat Infantryman's Course, after which the soldier takes his place within his chosen regiment. The training is both physically and mentally demanding, but also interesting and fun. Education, including literacy and numeracy is included. With drive and determination and working with a winning team led by high quality instructors, the recruit will maximise his full potential.
For parents and family, we invite you to Catterick to see your son or loved one, twice in his training. This is done both early in training, and then for his pass off parade at the end of the course; it is also an excellent opportunity to meet and chat with the instructors.
We in the Prince of Wales's Division look forward to meeting your family and seeing you as you start a new, exciting and varied life in a strong and proud team.
